Why SDGs Matter 

The United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals represent a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity, for people and the planet. The goals address key global challenges including poverty, inequality, climate change, and ensuring good health and well-being and peace and justice for all. In this ‘Decade of Action’ running up to 2030 as the deadline for achieving the goals, now is the time to accelerate research and the translation of research findings into practical applications, solutions and positive change. 

As a leader in research and educational publishing with portfolios spanning the physical, life and health sciences and the social sciences and humanities, we have a significant role to play in contributing to these goals. The research we publish can inform policies, inspire innovations, and drive real-world solutions to these pressing global issues. Our books and reference works increase the understanding of sustainability issues and prepare new generations of researchers, students, and professionals to find solutions. Wiley is also playing our part as an organization by committing to being carbon net-zero by 2040, verified by the Science Based Targets initiative, and embedding Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) and Inclusion into who we are as an organization.
